In order to better serve its Chinese customers locally, Steinhardt established Guhong (Shanghai) Environmental Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Guhong Environmental Protection) as its Sino-German joint venture company in 2014, located in the business hub of China, Shanghai.
By integrating manufacturing, technical guidance, sales and after-sales service on-site, Guhong is able to provide customized solutions backed by its won R&D center for all applications in the field of sponge city construction, rainwater management, water environment, and comprehensive water ecology management.
From the beginning of its establishment, Guhong Environmental Protection has adhered to the German craftsman spirit of excellence in terms of product quality and eye for detail, using state-of-the-art laser cutting machines and bending machines to achieve highest precisions standards. The manufacturing process is controlled by computer automation, for no deviation between product design and the final product. The whole execution of the manufacturing is according to the highest international management and production standards similar in Germany enterprises.
By the continuously investment in technological innovations, Guhong has successively obtained several patents and inventions in the fields of rainwater management technology such as rainwater treatment, rainwater and sewage diversion, pipe network regulation, and watershed management.
Guhong’s expertise in combining proven technology from Germany with new design concepts addressing the unique circumstances of urban stormwater management in China are highly recognized by the industry in China. For its contribution in the field of environment protection, Guhong has been awarded with the vice-chairman position of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences for two consecutive years and awarded exemplary environmental protection enterprise by China Environment News.
The company’s dedication to quality and innovation was certified by ISO900 quality management system, and its brand reputation and after-sales service were both awarded with a 5-star certification and a 3A-level enterprise credit rating certification.
Guhong Environmental Protection has two production sites within Shanghai with a total of more than 10,000 square meters of modern production lines. The production facilities not only cover the complete series of standardized products in the aspects of pipe network and tank flushing, rainwater and river sewage treatment, pipe network flow control, etc., It can also supply fully customized product solutions according to the on-site conditions of different projects to meet the unique rainwater management requirements of each project.
The whole range of Steinhard’s major product solutions can be provided by Guhong and were also widely installed all over China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Yunnan and other places. About 200 engineering projects have been successfully implemented by Guhong and the firm participated in the construction of several major sponge city projects including Chizhou, Fuzhou, Pingxiang, Nanjing Jiangbei New District Shenzhen Maozhou River Basin and many more.
Industry benchmarking projects such as the Sino-German government's cooperation project Keys in the four places of Tongzhou have been well received by the industry.
At the same time, Guhong Environmental Protection also cooperates closely with famous Chinese and German universities, scientific research institutions, engineering/landscape/architectural design firms such as Hamburg University, RWTH Aachen University, Tsinghua University and Tongji University to jointly complete the utilized design for rainwater integration of sponge cities. In 2015, Guhong Environmental Protection participated in the "Water Pollution Control and Governance Science and Technology Major Project" plan (2006-2020) led by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China. According to the pollution status of Taihu Lake, Dianchi Lake and Chaohu Lake, the use of proven German environmental protection technology and concepts in the fields of advanced water treatment and water resources management technology, achieved the development and optimization goals of water quality and water resources integrated management in the basin. In addition, as a member of the German side, Guhong Environmental Protection also participated in the 2015 and 2016 Sino-German seminars on urban water environment management and governance, through seminars held in Beijing, Wuxi, and Jiaxing, and implemented sponge City pilot demonstration projects. Facing the great significance of the demonstration project, Guhong Environmental Protection also actively participated in the formulation of relevant norms: participated in the compilation of the "Urban Black and Odorous Water Remediation - Technical Guidelines for the Treatment of Outlets, Pipelines and Inspection Wells" issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China in August 2016 (Trial)", National Building Standard Design Atlas "Rainwater Storage Facilities - Reinforced Concrete Rainwater Storage Tanks" issued by China Building Standards Design and Research Institute in 2018, "Water Supply and Drainage" magazine "Smart City Drainage Pipeline Operation Monitoring and "Intelligent Disposal Technical Guidelines", enabling German standards to empower China's urban water environment governance.
"Green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", Guhong Environmental Protection has put all its efforts in the integration of technical resources of both China and Germany, and strive to create an economical and practical and highly promotable design scheme, so that advanced technical concepts can take root in more Chinese cities, and make positive contributions to the construction of “Ecological China - Beautiful China”.
